Prerequisite: "C" or better in MTH270. Topics in this course include anti-differentation and definite integrals of algebraic and trigonomic functions, the Fundamental Theorems of Calculus, integration by substitution, integration by parts, and applications. MTH320/671 (3 hours) Introduction to Applied Linear Algebra Prerequisite: "C" or better in MTH270. Topics in this course include Linear Systems, Matrix Algebra, Determinants, Vector Spaces, and Linear Transformations. Proof will be utilized in the course, but the primary focus is applications. Applications may include Curve Fitting, Stachastic Matrices, Leontif Input-Output Models, Least Squares Regression Analysis, Rotations of Conic Sections, Markov-chains, Linear Programming, and other selected topics. MTH340/670 (3 hours) Set Theory Pre-requisite = "C" or better in MTH280This course includes the study of axioms and theorems for set operations and properties, relations, functions, cardinal numbers, ordered sets, ordinal numbers, and axioms of choice. Graduate students will also study Boolean algebra and other selected theorems, lemmas, and paradoxes. MTH350/672 (3 hours) Introduction to Probability Theory Prerequisite: "C" or better in MTH280 and MTH320. The course is an introduction to probability and probability distributions. Topics include counting techniques, random variables, and important probability distributions.
