This course focuses on the characteristics and needs of individuals with mild mental impairment across the lifespan. Emphasis is placed on etiology, prevention, and treatment in educational and community settings, and on physical, emotional and social characteristics of the mentally impaired. Identification, diagnosis and treatment of the mentally impaired are included. Teachers will analyze current best practices and research on mental impairments.
