An integrated introduction course in organic chemistry. The reactions of aliphatic and aromatic compounds are considered in terms of molecular orbital theory; carbonium ion, carbanion and free radical reaction mechanisms; stereochemistry and molecular conformation; and transition state theory and techniques of organic synthesis. Lecture three {3) hours per week. Laboratory three {3) hours per week. Prerequisite: Chemistry 141.
