This course is the first of a two course sequence, and provides an introduction to the basic principles of chemistry. It includes the scientific method and measurements; components of matter; stoichiometry; chemical reactions; gases and kinetic theory; thermochemistry; quantum theory and atomic structure; chemical periodicity and bonding; covalent bonding; liquids, solids and phase changes; and the properties of mixtures, solutions and colloids. Prerequisites: MAC2102 and CHM1010 with a grade of "C" or better (Lab Fee required)
