Explores the aspects and activities associated with the integral operations of a visual arts program for elementary school students. Procedures and applicable methods for instilling self-esteem and creativity in the works of students will be central to the course. A variety of cultural themes will be utilized in selected classroom activities and special projects. Signs of possible psychological disturbances reflected in projective drawings (e.g., depression, anxiety, psychosis, and aggression) will be presented as well. Motor skills disorder as described in the DSM-IV-TR will be addressed. Methods of minimizing material expenditures while still providing meaningful artistic expression in the classroom will be presented.
