Introduction to selected major global problems including, but not limited to globalization, clash of civilizations, terrorism, weapons of mass destruction, nationalism, the North-South gap, environmental and human rights issues. Special attention to the hegemonic role of the United States in world affairs and to the international politics of the Middle East. This course enables students to make sense of current events and also prepares students for upper-level courses in comparative politics and international relations.
