This course allows students to experience healthcare in a variety of geographical and cultural contexts. The course includes information on the customs, rituals, family structure, and diet as they relate to health. It also includes examination of the healthcare system, healthcare provider roles, and current public health issues. Dependent on the location of study, language acquisition may also be included. Learning includes visits to cultural centers, hospitals, and clinics and involves work with local healthcare providers. A service learning project is included. J-term. Repeatable for credit. Permission of instructor is required. 0 or 4 credits. Fee.
