The course will explore selected texts of African literature written in English or translated into English.? It covers major modern African fiction and its role in explaining African politics, culture, and religion.? Appropriate audiovisual material is included to give students a basic but comprehensive background in postcolonial African literature and culture.? Such masterpieces as Achebe's Things Fall Apart, Beti's novels of colonial Cameroon, Mariama Ba's So Long Letter, and Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka's and other representative works will be studied.?
