This course presents trends, issues, and politics within nursing that influence registered nurses’ clinical practice. It will be presented in a seminar/debate format with active participation by the students. Emphasis is placed on the future of nursing and nursing organizations and changes in nursing education, nursing service, and the healthcare delivery system. The influence of advanced technology and nursing research upon clinical practice will be addressed. Nursing politics, women’s issues, and healthcare reform will be explored. Prerequisite: PBSN/BSN major
