4 CREDIT HOURS Survey of poetry and its many forms, from the measured rhymes of Chaucer to modern free verse. Emphasis is placed on the interpretation of poetic language, including the concepts of imagery, metaphor, and symbolism. Through reading and interpreting a variety of selections, students will gain a deeper understanding of the power and resonance of the poetic voice. Prerequisite: ENG103
