4 credits. Alternate years Controversial social issues and policies are examined and discussed within a context of theory and research in developmental psychology. The goal is to examine how current developmental research has, and has not, been successfully applied to practical social issues regarding children and adolescents. Topics include: day care; sex education; adolescent pregnancy and parenting; changing family structure; infants and children with AIDS; television viewing; child abuse and neglect. Prerequisite: PSY 1530 and 2650, or permission of instructor
