An introduction to the masterpieces that have made the literature of Greece and Rome an enduring part of the modern heritage. The course will include Homer, Herodotus, Greek Tragedy, Greek and Roman Lyric, Greek and Roman Comedy, Roman Epic, Ovid. The literature will be studied for its enduring values, in relation to its times, and as the background for literature in the modern languages.
