"All's fair in love and war" - or is it? Do ethical duties still apply, even when you are fighting for your life? Is it different when you are fighting terrorists? This course examines major ethical issues concerning war, using contemporary philosophical approaches to ethics. We shall also consider several religious approaches to war and peace, including the pacifism of such figures as Mohandas Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr. (Same course as PHIL 2013).
