Instruction will focus on the learning needs of the early and middle adolescent child. Students will be presented with opportunities to complete in depth work integrating the middle school curriculum, effectively bridging the gap between elementary and secondary school. Strategies on the adaptation of material to meet the needs of students with disabilities will be presented. Interdisciplinary studies, cooperative learning, block scheduling and team teaching will be emphasized throughout the course. Emphasis will be placed on establishing effective learning environments relating knowledge, skills, values and attitudes to the specific content area and the use of curriculum and assessment standards to improve content area instruction and student performance. Prerequisite: PSYN259. 3 sem. hrs. 3crs.
