This is a two-week course in which students gain fundamental skills in handling veterinary emergencies. These skills include client communication, patient status assessment, treatment protocols for common emergencies and performance of treatments. Students work in the 24-hour emergency service at the Veterinary Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Some night and weekend shifts are required. Prerequisites: completion of all required coursework, a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher and a grade point average of 2.0 or higher in all Veterinary Technology coursework.
