This course is designed to provide in-depth instruction of the processes and techniques that apply to all aspects of criminal investigations, from the initial call for service to the court presentation. Students are exposed to the methods used in evaluation of the crime scene to determine the type of crime that has been committed and the physical parameters of the area of involvement. In addition, students learn how to process the scene by locating, collecting and preserving physical evidence; interviewing witnesses, victims and suspects; and preparing crime scene sketches.Prerequisite: CJ 101.
