3 credits each Prerequisite for POR 111: No Prerequisite. Not open to students with previous knowledge of the language except with permission of the director. Prerequisite for POR 112: POR 111 or equivalent. Students who failed to receive a C- or higher in level I are not able to continue to level II. An introduction to Portuguese and Brazilian language and culture. Use of grammar and conversational texts, with emphasis on the latter. Field trips, audio-visual aids, and language laboratory used.
