3 credits Prerequisite: ENG 107. This survey class aims to create a community of diverse readers and scholars who challenge each other with perspectives and interpretations of third gender literature. The course will examine how the self-defined image of sexual minorities has evolved, as has their place in social history. Focusing primarily on gay and lesbian fiction, poetry, and dramatic literature, the course will also draw upon readings from mythology, cultural theory, autobiography, and critical studies.
