Prerequisite: Junior level standing or consent of the instructor. This course will introduce to the student the theoretical and research bases on which nursing is built. Students will examine the knowledge that guides nursing interventions and critique published nursing reports. Ethical issues as they relate to research, theory and practice will be discussed as well as the importance for the professional nurse to review current nursing research to maintain currency of practice. 3 lecture hours.
