Prerequisites: NURS 100, 130 and 150, or NURS 171. Corequisite: NURS 200. The nursing process is used to assist pediatric clients to adapt to alterations of respiratory, musculoskeletal, integumentary, sensory-neurological, cell growth, and nutritional absorption and metabolism. Students apply the nursing process in the clinical setting to facilitate adaptation of the client, ages one month through adolescence, with acute and chronic health problems. Emphasis is placed on normal growth and development and health promotion. Nutritional concerns, as they relate to these alterations and stressors, are included. 5 lecture hours, 9 clinical laboratory hours (8-week course).
