Prerequisites: NURS 100. Corequisite: NURS 130. Builds on basic curricular concepts, core threads and principles. The nursing process is used to assist clients to adapt to the stressors of alterations in acid-base balance, nutritional intake and elimination, nutritional absorption and metabolism, cancer, and musculoskeletal integrity. Nutritional concerns, as they relate to these alterations and stressors, are included. College laboratory is utilized for students to acquire more advanced nursing skills. Students apply the nursing process in the clinical setting to facilitate adaptation of the adult client with common medical and surgical health problems. 5 lecture hours, 7 clinical laboratory hours, 2 college laboratory hours (8-week course).
