Three hours lecture. An introductory course in optics covering wave propagation, interaction of electromagnetic radiation with matter, geometrical optics, polarization, interference and diffraction. Supplementary topics from modern optics such as lasers, detectors, fiber optics, optical communications, imaging, and storage also included. Prereq: PHYS 206, MATH 433, or consent of instructor.
