Discussion of surface processes and landforms created by those processes. Emphasis on the evolution of landforms and the interpretation of their origins. Major topics include tectonism, volcanism, weathering and pedological applications, fluvial, eolian, coastal, karst, and glacial processes. Course includes semester-long research project applying geomorphological concepts to topics in geomorphology. Prereq: GEOL 162, GEOL 261 and GEOL 302, or permission of instructor.
