This course prepares the associate or diploma nurse graduate for didactic and clinical learning experiences within the USI baccalaureate nursing program. Program philosophy, conceptual framework, and outcomes are discussed in relation to contemporary professional nursing practice and education. Emphasis is placed on the critical thinking skills, knowledge, expertise, and personal and professional development required of nurses in today’s diverse health care settings. Students explore health promotion and assessment, health care community and team membership, nursing theory, nursing research, and quality management systems.
