This course celebrates the Irish literary renaissance in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In the context of Irish risings against English rule beginning in 1798, we will study poetry, drama, and fiction by these modern writers: Yeats, Shaw, Wilde, Joyce, Synge, O’Casey, Beckett. Prereq: ENG 201.
