Prerequisites are 1 yr BIO and 1 CHM Lab course or equivalent. Enhances skills learned in microbiology. Emphasizes selection and preparation of both media and solutions, use and care of equipment required for solution preparation, calculations, and documentation of procedures. Instructs in the proper techniques for using analytical balance, pH meter, autoclave and other methods of sterilization. Stresses laboratory safety and standard laboratory operating procedures. Lecture 1 hour. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 4 hours per week.
