Credits: 3 Prerequisite(s): MIT-500 or MBA-500 Currently offered: Spring 2008: Online (1) Description: This course is an introduction to conventional leadership models and to the emerging role of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) in modern organizations. Until very recently IT was an administrative or support function, but the current role of IT is very different. Today technology is a key enabler to innovation and new product development. The CIO or CTO is now called upon to provide leadership to the organization and is an integral part of the senior management team. This course addresses the traditional role of leadership in managing a department or division and the more recent (and important) role of substantial contributor to corporate strategy at the senior management level.
