Credits: 3 Prerequisite(s): ENG-111 OR COR-115 Currently offered: Spring 2008: Day/Evening (2) Fall 2008: Day/Evening (2) Description: This course introduces students to newspaper, magazine and online reporting with hands-on experience in gathering news, conducting research, investigating, and interviewing. Using the inverted pyramid and other writing strategies, students will produce, edit and analyze basic news, sports and feature stories. Students will apply journalistic writing skills for newspaper, magazine and online formats. Working in teams and alone, students learn to find, write and edit basic print stories on deadline using the Associated Press Stylebook and Libel Guide. Students also examine the role and responsibilities of the press and study the legal and ethical issues facing journalists.
