We will discuss relevant aspects of the architecture of the Internet including the Domain Name System, registering domain names, obtaining IP addresses, access technologies, and TCP/IP. We also look closely at the Web servers themselves, considering factors such as operating systems Web server software, security concerns, secure on-line transactions, server performance, Java, CGI, Active-X, etc. Students work on a semester-long case project to design the Web infrastructure for an organization.
