Anyone involved with strategic planning and operation needs to understand the impact of their work on the organization's bottom line. Projects may either enhance or degrade cash flow and IT managers must understand the implications to corporate profitability. Managers must understand how the organization's financial models work in order to make a meaningful contribution to the overall success of the organization. This course surveys the elements of financial management and their impact on the IT function. Financial options are considered along with the special constraints imposed by IT activities. Tools required to develop successful business cases and modeling and simulation tools will be introduced.
