Session Cycle: Spring Yearly Cycle: Every Other This course is an introduction to the field of forensic psychology. Its content coverage will include the examination of the current issues, theories, and interface between psychology and the criminal justice system. Students will explore a range of topics including criminal profiling, the reliability of hypnosis, lie detection, and eyewitness testimony, trial preparation and jury selection, the insanity defense, domestic violence and sexual abuse cases, and death penalty trials and appeals. During the course of the semester, students will apply their knowledge of forensic psychology by debating the issues with classmates and analyzing real world scenarios.
