It is designed to provide an overview of contemporary mass media systems and an examination of the various factors--historical, economic, political, and cultural--that have shaped their development. students are introduced to theory and research involving all forms of mediated communication and the different areas it encompasses including broadcasting and new media. political, and ethical implications of mass communication systems and practices. Whatever their field, Bryant graduates are likely to be working in an environment that requires an understandingof mediated communication. To study mass communication is to study the symbols of our shared culture.
