This course is an introduction to the application of psychological theories and principles to educational settings. Topics include basic concepts in measurement and assessment, theories of learning and motivation, developmental characteristics of learners, individual differences, classroom management and teacher behavior, and diversity in the schools. Taken during the freshman or sophomore year, this course is a prerequisite for other education courses. All teacher candidates must participate in field experiences outside of regularly scheduled classes. This is a service learning course. Prerequisite: PSY 105. An additional corequisite or prerequisite for education students: ED 101. 3 semester hours
