Emphasis on methods and materials for developing comprehensive musicianship through the vocal program of the public school; consideration of the child voice, the changing voice, and the adolescent voice; budgeting and administering the program; planning and preparing for public performance; repertoire for choral groups; preparation of a philosophy of music education. Prerequisites: MUS 181 and 182, or permission of instructor. Credit: 4 semester hours. Note: A letter grade of at least B- must be attained in MUS 183 in order to count for graduation as a music education major.
