Study of philosophies, principles and practices related to general music instruction in elementary and secondary schools. Examination of contemporary approaches to teaching general music. Analysis of skills, concepts, and materials appropriate to elementary and secondary general music programs. Practice in planning and implementing elements of a comprehensive general music curriculum. Prerequisite: MUS 181, or permission of instructor. Credit: 4 semester hours. Note: A letter grade of at least B- must be attained in MUS 182 in order to count for graduation as a music education major.
