MTH 431 - Teaching Mathematics in the Secondary School

Educational theory, methodologies and instructional models pertaining to the teaching of mathematics on the secondary level, teaching strategies for specific mathematical concepts, recognition and awareness of necessary problem-solving and cognitive skills. The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics standards will be perused and discussed. Much of this will be embedded in the mathematics of geometry. This course is open only to those junior and senior mathematics majors who plan to student teach. Students registering for this course must also register for MTH 331. Prerequisites: MTH 251, EDU 201, PSY 231.
