A study of the structure of ecological communities and ecosystems and the processes that affect them. Specific topics include interspecific competition, predation, food webs, species diversity, succession, biogeography, species conservation, and the flow of energy and materials through ecosystems. A laboratory with field work is included. Laboratory exercises stress experimental design and data analysis. Offered Fall Semester. Prerequisite: completion of BIO 111 with a C- or better. J.
