hours. Examines perspectives on social class to improve understanding of societal stratification and inequality. Determinants of class location and the effects of social class on “life chances” willbe analyzed. Broader social implications of social class systems, i.e., the distribution of wealth, income, and power; institutional arrangements; and class related differences in religion, political participation, and recreation will also be examined. Prerequisites: 390 and junior/senior class standing or consent of instructor. Offered: spring semesters of odd numbered years.
