Introduces the student to numerous mathematical topics and their applications in the modern world. The main emphasis is on developing quantitative reasoning, that is, an ability to read and write mathematics, as well as on developing an appreciation for the role of mathematics in contemporary society. Topics include: graph theory, mathematical modeling, consumer mathematics, descriptive statistics, geometry, and symmetry. Satisfies core requirement. (MATH)
