This course is designed to acquaint the student with standard conducting techniques, including a working knowledge of all standard beat patterns, the active gestures including legato, staccato and tenuto gestures as well as gestures of syncopation, the passive gestures, the analysis of various types of fermata and a thorough understanding of transposition.
