This course is an introduction to the study of Library Science, and is designed to provide students with a fi rm foundation of the history, philosophy, theory, professional literature, issues and ethics related to the fi eld. Students will explore the different kinds of libraries and their functions in society, as well as modern issues in librarianship. Students will also become familiar with the basic tools of librarianship. Ethical issues related to the fi eld will also be examined and addressed. Instructor’s permission.
