This course will introduce students to the fundamental principles of the life sciences, focusing particularly on human biology and natural ecology. Themes to be discussed will include the contemporary understanding of heredity and evolution, the molecular and cellular bases of life, general life processes, and the various body systems. The interaction of species, including the role of both diversity and unity among the species, will be discussed in an ecological context.
