(Also SLS 217) 4 hours; 4 credits A study of the basic elements of mathematical thought especially designed for students seeking certification as elementary school teachers. Topics include problem solving techniques, set theory, mathematical logic, number systems and their properties, numeration systems, and algorithms. Prerequisites: A minimum GPA of 2.75 and MTH 025 or MTH 030 or an appropriate score on the CUNY proficiency/placement exam or permission of the Department of Mathematics, and a 100-level mathematics general education course
