4 hours; 4 credits This course will analyze how Latin America has historically interacted with the West, and the West with Latin America. Emphasis will be placed on the historical legacies of the encounters between the West and Latin America, the geographical/social diversity of this area, an appreciation of the region’s artistic and literary contributions, as well as the technological challenges facing this part of the world today.
