4 hours; 4 credits The biological effects of chronic and acute exposure to ionizing and nonionizing radiation. The mechanisms underlying the events occurring during and after the interaction between macromolecules, isolated cells, organs, and entire organisms with irradiation. The effects of radiation at all levels of biological organization, and the biological basis for radiation safety practices are discussed. Prerequisite: BIO 205 Pre- or corequisites: PHY 150 and 151, or PHY 156, or PHY 160 and 161
