3 hours; 3 credits The nature of the sun, moon, planets, comets, meteors, and meteorites; early and modern history of the Earth; the origin of the solar system; evolution of life on Earth and in the cosmos. Field trips and/or day and evening astronomical observation sessions will be required. Students may not receive credit for both INS 100 and AST 100. (science) Prerequisite: MTH 020 or an appropriate score on the CUNY Mathematics Assessment Test Corequisite: AST 101
