3 hours; 3 credits A seminar exploring the current ideas and debates regarding art’s role in the world. The class will investigate the nature of what the art activity was and is, as well as what purpose it served in the past and what purpose it serves currently. Oral presentations will be made. Concepts such as modernism, postmodernism, multiculturalism, and deconstruction will be introduced and discussed. Prerequisites: Any 200- or 300-level studio art course and ART 100 or ART 201, or permission of the instructor
