(Also DAN 150) 4 hours; 3 credits Concentrating on the “pioneers of modern dance”–Duncan, DenishawnGraham, Humphrey, Weidman, and others–as well as on the experimental and avant-garde, using lectures, demonstrations, video, and film to illustrate examples of outstanding choreography. The course includes the dance of India and Black dance coordinated with professional concerts and student reports. Includes “Happenings in Today’s World of Dance.” Ndance background required.
