The purpose of this course is to give each student an opportunity to consider what it means to have knowledge and to explore how it is possible to have a scienti?c understanding of what it means to think. We will discuss a number of historical and contemporary theories of how we acquire, store, and use information about the world. The importance and relevance of these ideas will be explored by studying their application in diverse ?elds, such as arti?cial intelligence, law, neuroscience, health, and aging.
