The main objective of this course is the expansion of each student’s understanding of the social and political events, artistic production, literary texts and culture of four countries in the Hispanic world: Spain, Mexico, Cuba, and Puerto Rico. The course focuses on the transition towards the historical period of the 20th century that we will refer to as “modernity.” Throughout the course, we will make use ofreadings, films, music and the Internet in order to develop a more complete understanding of the complex modes of cultural production.
